April 23, 2024 Fire Committee Meeting Minutes

ZHA Fire Committee Meeting 2024 Quarter 2April 23, 2024, 2:00 PM-4 PM 220 Mill Run Road

Minutes Members present: Wayne, Forrest, Suzanne, John

Old Business

• Pumper trailer update (Mark has all the parts and has begun repairs. He hopes

  to have it operational by the end of the week. He still needs to purchase and install a storage box and submit his receipts for reimbursement. Do we need a cover?)

• California Circle mitigation update (We think Andrew is done with the work. Adam will be out April 30 to inspect for final payment)

• Weed plan (nothing new)

• fir tree pouches (pouches should be in within a week. We need to get them up

  ASAP)

• evaluate "ZHA grant" projects (1 property chipping, 1 property hauling, 1 property roadside chipping, 1 property defensible space evaluation)(we only have one project to pay out; Chris Lundquist as soon as he submits some documentation for his work. John will notify him. John Oberle has yet to find a contractor to remove his pile, and Anna has not been able to get her slash to the road. Mikki has expressed an interest in funds so we will ask the board if we may make another offer to members in June.)

• edit wood recovery lot burn procedures (we changed the order on the checklist bringing burn team members up and on the procedures dropped where to place ignition fuel. We will ask Adam if he has "controlled burn" signs we can borrow. John will submit it to the board for approval at the May meeting.)

• discuss ZHA Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan February 28, 2018

  (we answered the questions Forrest had. She will prepare another draft for review. We all need to evaluate the south emergency exit road.)

New Business

• fix fire siren (Wayne tried the button at his guest house and it worked. The

  button on the post may not. John will contact dispatch to see if they can activate

  it from there.)

• next mitigation project (remove the dead trees on the entrance circle, the dead

  fir trees on Hampton near Big bear, and the treatment area on the south side of California Circle backing up to Sharon's. We are just waiting for Adam to

• approve a contractor.)

• update strategic plan/committee directives (we removed references to fire

  detection system, a notification app, and fire house. We added regular testing of the fire alarm, maintain fire trailers (pumps and equipment), provide annual fire initial response training, facilitate wood recovery lot burn, identify beetle kill/place pouches. John will contact Anna to find an editable master plan.)

• update defensible space maps (we began talking about what needed to be done. It could be a rather intensive project. John will contact MHVFD to see what they would like as a first step. John would like to get our current projects wrapped up before diving into the map.)

• community education message (Suzanne found a poster about smoke detectors that John will ask Anna to post at the mailboxes bulletin board.)

• community work day (it will be hanging fir tree pouches as soon as they come in.)
