ZHA Fire Committee Meeting 2024 Quarter 3 August 1, 4 pm162 Cedar Ridge

Minutes Members present: Suzanne, Erin, John


Old Business

  • Pumper trailer update (John) the trailers are finished. John topped of the water

    and tire air today. Wendolyn had offered to store the second trailer on her property but we think Little Bear or SW Mill Run area is better. Mark turned in his receipts for reimbursement.

  • Air tank update (John) we have enough "full" tanks for one use each. John will get with Blaine at the end of the fire season to see if his tank guy can do the inspections. If not, we will get AirGas to do them. MHVFD can still refill them for us after they are inspected

  • Weed plan (John) We are still trying to get the one weed guy in the valley to commit to the project. If he doesn't, Adam may have a work-around for us. Funds need to be used in weeds in fuel mitigation areas.

  • 2nd "grant" cycle (John) one project has been submitted. We will remind people at the August meeting. We need to evaluate projects between August 11-14 so checks can be ready by the August 16 board meeting.

  • Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan update (John) the plan has been completed and now lives on the website.


New Business

  • defensible space maps update (John) Adam is updating the maps for us. When

    he is done we will need to field check them. Erin and Forrest have asked for site

    checks if needed.

  • escape routes update (Suzanne, John) Wayne and John smoothed out the road

    between Mill Run and the boundary gate for the south exit. Suzanne has been in touch with Alamosa County Emergency Manager Eric Trenien who is trying to get the BLM to evaluate a northern route.

  • committee job description (John) John completed a draft and has had no comments on it

  •  Firewise yearly updates (John) John and Wayne met with Adam and Adam is putting together a list of projects that will meet the firewise requirements

  • next year project list (All) start thinking about projects we need to work on in the next year
